This treatment filters and purifies the blood using a machine. Also, this helps keep your body in balance when the kidneys are unable to do their job. Dialysis has been used From 1940s to treat people who are suffering with the problems related to kidneys.

Why Is Dialysis Used? Kidneys that are properly functioning prevent excess waste, water, as well as other impurities from accumulating in your body. Moreover, they also help control blood pressure and regulate the chemical levels in the blood, like salt or sodium, and potassium.

Even they activate a form of vitamin D which improves the absorption of calcium. If your kidneys can not perform these functions because of injury or disease, dialysis can help keep your body running as normally as possible. However, without dialysis, the salts and other waste products will gather in the blood and it might poison the body.

Yet dialysis is not a cure for kidney disease or other issues affecting your kidneys. Various treatments may also be needed to address those concerns.
