About Skin Cancer Treatment

Skin Cancer Treatment Skin cancer is a disease where malignant cells form as the tissues of the skin. Skin color and being excessively exposed to sunlight can increase the risk of actinic keratosis and nonmelanoma skin cancer. Skin is the largest organ of human body.

It protects against heat, injury, sunlight, and infection. It also helps control body temperature and stores fat, water, and vitamin D. Skin has several layers, however, two main layers are the epidermis that are upper and the outer layer and the dermis which is lower or inner layer.

Skin cancer starts in the epidermis, that is made up of 3 kinds of cells: Basal cells: Round cells under the squamous cells. Melanocytes: Cells that make melanin and are found in the lower part of the epidermis Squamous cells: Thin, flat cells that form the top layer of the epidermis. Melanin: It is the pigment that gives skin its natural color.

So, if the skin is exposed to the sun, the melanocytes make more pigment and they may cause the skin to darken. However, skin cancer can occur anywhere on the body. Most common areas that are often exposed to sunlight, like the neck, face, hands, and arms.
